Theatre Lovers!

     Fremont Civic Theatre’s roots began in the fall of 1947 when a small group of theatre enthusiasts formed the Canon City Little Theatre as a branch of The Fine Arts Committee.  Also known as The Canon City Players, the founding thespian group, led by Jeanne Howe,  endeavored to entertain and enlighten the community with frequent live stage performances. 

      From “You Can’t Take It With You”, the first play to take the stage in December 1947, to our most recent full-scale production, “Annie”, Fremont Civic Theatre continues its mission "To Promote Involvement in Live Theatre" through regular productions offered to the community.  Our members and play participants have also been involved in various local acting gigs such as assisting the Police Department with training videos and dressing in period clothing and adopting roles as family members to help provide tours of the beautiful Gibson Mansion.  We enjoy every opportunity to promote the art of the stage—even when the “stage” is a bit unorthodox!!  We produce three to six shows annually, including the very popular New Year’s Eve Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre.  Our productions include large-scale musicals, comedies, Children’s Theatre, dramas, variety shows and more.  FCT also provides educational services and the opportunity for our community to learn about many aspects of the theatre through our Workshop Series offered at various times throughout the year.
